Great Books For Readers That Love Contemporary

The top contemporary books of 2023 to have in mind next time you’re in a bookshop

If you’re like me, you have a very, very extensive to-be-read list, and I keep adding more books almost daily. For our contemporary readers, this post’s for you.

Check out the top contemporary books we recommend you read this year, accompanied with a brief description of each, and, in the end, the best place to find book-related items to decorate your life.

Three Junes - Julia Glass

A brilliant debut book that follows the members of a Scottish family as they deal with the pleasures and longings, accomplishments, and betrayals of love in all its forms is set in Greece, Scotland, Greenwich Village, and Long Island.

Paul McLeod, a newspaper publisher, and recent widow, travels to Greece in June 1989. While there, he falls in love with a young American artist and considers the tangled reality of his marriage.

Believe me, this is one of the best contemporary books you can read this year and I beg you to add this title to your TBR list.

Room - Emma Donoghue

Jack, who is five years old, sees Room as the entire universe. It is where he was born and raised; it is where he still resides with his mother when they study, read, eat, sleep, and play. His mother locks him safely inside the wardrobe at night, where he is supposed to be sleeping until Old Nick comes to call.

Jack calls Room home, while Ma sees it as Old Nick's jail, where she has been imprisoned for seven years. She comes up with a daring escape strategy one night, one that depends on her little son's bravery and a lot of luck.

If this mini description doesn’t make you believe this is a top contemporary book of 2023, I don’t know what will.

A Little Life - Hanya Yanagihara

If you loved The Secret History by Donna Tartt, you’ll surely enjoy this piece. Four college buddies from a small college in Massachusetts travel to New York to try to make it, but they are broke, lost, and supported only by their friendship and drive.

In addition to Jude, who acts as their focal point, there is gentle, gorgeous Willem, a budding actor; Malcolm, a frustrated architect at a prestigious firm; JB, a quick-witted, occasionally nasty painter from Brooklyn; and Malcolm. Over the years, their connections become more complex and sinister as a result of addiction, success, and pride.

Definitely, one of the best contemporary books for readers that you should read this year.
