Look no further, this list that I created are 20 beautiful libraries that will make you want to travel immediately. Even though we are having our travel trips altered with everything going on, I figured why not escape through photographs to beautiful libraries around the world. Enjoy!
The Joanina Library from the University of Coimbra
Located in Coimbra, Portugal
The Joanina Library is a beautiful library located at the University of Coimbra. It looks super vintage, has so many books to read and did I forget to mention that this library was used for inspiration in The Beauty & The Beast 2017 film adaptation. It is quite stunning and one of the few Portugal libraries used in this list.
The Jabali Ridge
Located in Tanzania, Africa
The Imagine being in the middle of a beautiful camp in Africa and you are able to enjoy a session of reading. The Jabali Ridge is a beautiful camp located in the Ruaha National Park where you can also stay for a vacation, go on a safari and see beautiful sights in Tanzania.
The Library of St. Mang's Abbey
Located in Füssen, Germany
This 9th century library is so beautiful and had to be added to this library list. It is a monastery as well a library. Imagine what type of books you can read at this monastery. How long do you think you would spend at this library?
The Central Public Library
Located in Seattle, Washington
The Central Public Library in Seattle, Washington is just stunning and so much light for you devour the many books that this library offers. The library has beautiful architecture and thousands of books to choose from. Can you imagine reading while being surrounded by beautiful art?
The Gladstone's Library
Located in Flintshire, UK
The Gladstone Library is a library that you can not only feeling like you are walking through a novel but also sleep at. Yes -- I said sleep, they actually have beds that you can sign up for to sleep in and its in a private room with a bookshelf as well. This library has been added to my travel bucket list.
The Tianjin Binhai Library
Located in Tianjin, China
I think I have to admit that The Tianjin Binhai Library is one of my favorites and I cannot wait to visit. This library has over a million books stacked in multiple ways that you will never want to leave. This library is fairly new and yet it is a place I will never want to leave.
The Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library
Located in New Haven, Connecticut
Yale University has one of the most stunning libraries on a university campus. It has very rare books, a beautiful design and a library that will bring you literature joy. I wish I were a student at Yale -- just so I can have a library this beautiful close to me.
The Mafra National Palace
Located in Mafra, Portugal
The Mafra National Palace is not only a palace but a beautiful library. The bold colors, many bookshelves, did I mention stunning? This palace has so much history and was built with royalty in mind with books and art. I plan on visiting this wonderful library one day.
The Library Of Trinity College
Located in Dublin, Ireland
Dublin is capturing my mind with this beautiful library. Rows and rows of books to read -- from new edition to old edition books. This is another university library that makes me want to visit Ireland immediately.
The Library Of Congress
Located in Washington DC, USA
I am ashamed to say that I haven't visited The Library Of Congress. It is a library with a lot of history and located in the USA. This library was founded in 1800 and it has been a go to library ever since.
The Biblioteca Vasconcelos
Located in Mexico City, Mexico
The Biblioteca Vasconcelos is a gorgeous library that has a countless amount of books to choose from. It was super hard to narrow down which Mexico library to speak about. Mexico has stunning libraries and bookstores.
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina
Located in Alexandria, Egypt
I am pretty sure you have heard of The Library of Alexandria that was burned down by Julius Caesar. The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is a modern library that was inspired by that library and opened in 2002. This library is not only a library but a cultural center as well. It is beautiful and can capture our reader souls just by looking at it.
The Stadtbibliothek Stuttgart
Located in Stuttgart, Germany
So many staircases and so many books -- The Stadtbibliothek Stuttgart is a beautiful library that you will have to visit multiple times in order to see its complete design. This Germany library is definitely a must to see.
The Rampur Raza Library
Located in Rampur, India
India has some of the most beautiful architecture in the world and The Rampur Raza Library does not disappoint. It is very vintage in design and just beautiful to sit in an enjoy a book in.
The Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library
Located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
The Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library -- just look at it. Doesn't it look like one of those libraries you would read about in a book where it has hidden secret rooms, so many books that you want to read in your lifetime or stay in for days on end. This library is definitely on my list to visit and for some reason I want to visit this stunning library at night.
The Geelong Library and Heritage Centre
Located in Geelong, Australia
The Geelong Library and Heritage Centre looks like a library out of a fantasy book. From the outside architecture to the colorful indoor reading rooms. I want to visit Australia today and just take in everything this library has to offer.
The Royal Portuguese Cabinet Of Reading
Located in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
This old library will make me a permanent resident. The Royal Portuguese Cabinet Of Reading was opened in 1887 and it has one of the biggest collections of Portuguese literature outside of Portugal. It has original manuscripts and many unique books for any reader to enjoy.
The Admont Abbey Library
Located in Admont, Austria
The Admont Abbey Library looks like a library out of a fairy tale book like Beauty & The Beast. It is the largest monastic library in the world with thousands of books to check out. It is also attached to a monastery and a library that has been open since 1776.
The Bibliotheque Nationale De France
Located in Paris, France
The Bibliotheque Nationale De France is located in Paris, France and holds a huge collection of historical findings and books. It has been open to the public since 1692. It has lineage of being for royals in the past -- can you imagine the history amongst the shelves?
The Taipei Public Library Beitou Branch
Located in Taipei, Taiwan
The Taipei Public Library Beitou Branch is Taiwan's first green library and stunning. It is fairly new being opened in 2006 and it is said to be able to curb water and electricity consumption. I would love to visit this green library one day.
The George Peabody Library
Located in Baltimore, Maryland
The George Peabody Library is a beautiful library located in Maryland that opened in 1878 at John Hopkins University. This library has over 300,000 books and has many historical architecture designs that will bring you back to the 19th century.
The Cobram Library
Located in Cobram, Australia
Between the design and the wood materials, The Cobram Library will grab any reader. In 2016, the doors were open to the public and now is also a culture center. It has unique architecture and can make your reading experience into something really special.
The Strahov Library
Located in Prague, Czechia
The Strahov Library in Prague looks as if you are stepping into another era. I find this library to be stunning and cozy. It is the 2nd oldest church library in Czech Republic. With the thousands of books and manuscripts, you will have a lot to read at this beautiful library.
